The highlight of the year for the arts in the Minnesota River Valley is the Meander: Upper Minnesota River Art Crawl, which is always happens during the first weekend in October. Meander Friday Night in downtown Granite Falls is a great place to start your weekend trip. Granite Falls is home to Meander artists, Bradley Hall, Curt Soine, Gene Stukel, Claire Swanson and Dale and Jo Pederson. The Granite Area Arts Council manages the K.K. Berge Gallery at 807 Prentice St. downtown. Gallery exhibits rotate every 6 weeks with local artists featured in the Imagine Gift Shop.

The Granite Falls Community Theater is a volunteer group who engages our young actors. Our local high school, Yellow Medicine East, has a theater production each fall. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the 2015 production on November 6, 7, 8 and 9 at Yellow Medicine East. During Ole and Lena Days, the first week of February, the Granite Area Arts Council has a concert featuring well known musical acts. Check their website or facebook page for details and other programs and classes they offer throughout the year.

Every March, Prairie Fire Children’s Theater presents a play using a one week period for rehearsals and shows. Volunteers help with this great opportunity for children to shine! The show is presented at Yellow Medicine East’s auditorium.

Granite Falls is home to musician Jerry Ostensoe, the Lawrence Welk of the Blues.  You can purchase his CDs at the Imagine Gift Shop, 807 Prentice St.
