Granite Falls is a great place to begin a kayak or canoe trip on the Minnesota. The Department of Natural Resources is a great place to start to plan your trip and stops along the way. Clean Up the River Environment in Montevideo is another great resource for river trips and other outdoor events. Up river from Granite Falls, Wegdahl County Park has camping and camper cabins, Memorial Park in Granite Falls has camping and downstream is Upper Sioux State Park, Skalbakken and other Renville County Parks on the Minnesota River. Upper Sioux State Park has a great horse camping facility and horse trails. Cross country ski trails are available at Upper Sioux and Lac qui Parle State parks. Enjoy ice skating in the city parks in Granite Falls.
The Kilowatt Center features two indoor pools, an exercise room, gym, classes and more. Granite Falls has parks with tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields and playgrounds throughout the town.
The Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway is a great route to follow on a bicycle or car, it follows both sides of the river with both gravel and tar roads. Memorial Park has a short bike path and the many rural backroads make for a great bike trip.

Granite Run Golf Course is located in a scenic spot amongst the granite outcroppings. The restaurant is open year round with a great view of the course.
